Wrinkle Relaxers

The high UV index in Australia contributes to premature wrinkling of the skin.  Luckily, DermCosmesis skin clinic offers a range of medical-grade wrinkle relaxers* in Perth to help fight the signs of aging.  A wrinkle relaxer injection at our clinic creates a subtle natural skin rejuvenation.  Our wrinkle relaxer treatments are cost effective, quick and convenient with virtually no downtime required.

Wrinkle relaxers are targeted at the reduction of muscle movements which contribute to the wrinkling process. The use of wrinkle relaxers injections can dramatically reduce dynamic wrinkles around the frown lines (wrinkles between the eyebrows), crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes) and smokers lines (wrinkles around the mouth). This treatment is effective with a proven safety record spanning 20 years.

Wrinkle relaxers are a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles creating an improved cosmetic appearance. The active ingredient is a muscle relaxant obtained from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinium and is manufactured in sterile laboratory conditions. Our variety of wrinkle relaxers are a prescription only medicine.

They work by temporarily blocking the impulse from the nerve to the muscle.  Wrinkle relaxers are quick, safe and also one of our most popular treatments.

Our highly qualified and experienced GP injector Dr Ramachandran likes to achieve an outcome where you look refreshed, reinvigorated and natural following the procedure.  Of course he is happy to be directed by you the client as to the outcome you wish to achieve.

*Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

We would encourage our clients to follow the guidance below:

1. Avoid consuming these items a few days prior to undergoing treatment – Alcohol, Green Tea, Vitamin E, Anti Inflamatary Medication, Blood thinning medications, fish oil and St Johns Wart.

2. Seek medical advice from our trained cosmetic GP’s if you are on medications before undertaking the treatment.

3. Schedule your appointment for this procedure atleast 2 weeks prior to special occasion or event.

Post Treatment Instructions

These guidelines have been used, tried and implemented for years and represent the gold standard in post treatement care.  Following these will significantly reduce the likelihood of complications like eyebrow or eyelid droop.

A. No strenuous physical activity post treatment for 24 hours.  Science tells us that the wrinkle relaxers take atleast 4 hours to start working on the nerves.  Physical activity increases circulation and may result in the relaxers being moved/reduced from the area being targeted.   Avoiding exercising and other activities for 24 hours allows for the best outcome.

B. Avoid manipulating the area for 24 hours.  Do not massage the area, avoid other skin treatments like hair laser, IPL, microdermabrasion or chemical peels after having the injections done.  These stimulate circualtion in the area and may result in an outcome that is less than expected.

C. The full result of the treatment may take up to 2 weeks to achieve.  If at this point in time the desired effect has not been achieved, please call our clinic.

D. Our fantastic staff can lightly apply foundation and or sun screen prior to you leaving the clinic after your treatment.

WARNING – Possible side effects for the Wrinkle Relaxers are: Bruising, swelling , tightness, and headaches may occur. This treatment is not suitable if you are pregnant.

How do Anti Wrinkle Injections work?

Wrinkle Injections or Wrinkle Relaxers are a protein that attaches to nerve endings and blocks signal transmission to target areas such as muscle. This in turn reduces muscle contraction which over a period reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

Wrinkle Relaxers are used to relax specific facial muscles that cause expression lines and wrinkles. Once the muscles are relaxed, these expression lines gradually smooth and new lines are prevented from forming.

How long do muscle relaxants last?

Wrinkle Relaxers last, on average, three months to four months in most patients. With repeat treatments the effect tends to last longer as muscles weaken over time.
