At DermCosmesis we utilise Dermapen™ for all our micro-needling treatments. Dermapen™ offers a variety of effective skin treatments. The device provides for unparalleled collagen induction via the delivery of micro-needles into the epidermis and dermis skin layers. These micro injuries harness the body’s innate ability to re-grow and repair the skin through the physiology of collagen induction which allows the body to heal and rejuvenate the skin cells,

Because the process never involves heat or thermal energy, doesn’t use harsh chemicals or cause unnecessary trauma, the skin heals quickly, requiring virtually no downtime.

Dermapen™ from DermCosmesis is a solution for various skin conditions including:

  • fine lines
  • acne scarring
  • stretch marks
  • scars
  • stimulated wound healing

Dermapen™ complements other treatment options already offered, such as chemical peels, IPL, micro-dermabrasion and laser skin tightening. This will greatly increase their effectiveness, however we suggest that you speak with one of our Dermal Technicians to discuss the right treatment mix for your condition.

WARNING – Possible side effects of Micro-needling are; redness, localised itchiness, and dryness of the skin, may occur. This treatment is not suitable if you are pregnant.

The skin is firstly cleaned and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to numb the area. The Dermapen™ is then rolled along the affected skin area(s). Each column of microneedles will penetrate into the dermis of the skin up to a depth of 2mm, aiming to create numerous needle marks and causing controlled injury underneath the surface of the skin.

After the procedure, your skin will start to naturally regenerate and repair itself prompting it to respond and create new collagen and elastin fibres. This results in plumper, smoother and younger looking skin. The appearance of fine lines, scars, acne snaring, open pores and certain stretch marks are reduced.

Results can be seen up to 6 weeks post treatment and we would usually recommend more than one treatment for optimal results.

What Is Micro Needling?

Micro Needling is a non-surgical treatment using Dermapen™’s advanced micro-medical skin needles, which are rolled onto the skin repeatedly. By causing mild and controlled trauma to the skin, this treatment stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating visible results with minimal downtime.

Micro Needling can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars, stretch marks and other skin concerns.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Micro Needling is ideal for the face but can also be used on the body to target specific problem areas

Is The Treatment Painful?

Micro Needling is not painful as the area is numbed by a topical anaesthetic cream, making the 30-minute procedure relatively comfortable. Straight after the treatment the skin will appear as if you have moderate sunburn and may feel warm and tighter than usual, this will start to subside after one-to-two hours and will normally recover within the same day, with only slight redness the following day. A cream is applied to the skin afterwards to help soothe and calm the skin thus reducing downtime.
