Hand Rejuvenation

As we age, the skin on the hands can lose fat, becoming thin and bony, with prominent veins. Age spots, fine lines and wrinkles caused by years of environmental exposure and physical strain can also change the look and feel of the hands. Our hands are often the first place to show signs of aging and DermCosmesis has a range of skin treatments, procedures and cosmeceuticals available to assist with hand rejuvenation.

Hand Rejuvenation is usually achieved through a combination of lasers, plasma skin regeneration and injectables such as dermal fillers.

Laser Rejuvenation:
DermCosmesis is a leading Perth laser skin clinic, utilising the MedLite Q-Switch laser to rejuvenate aging skin around the hands. The Q-Switch laser is particularly effective for treating pigmentation issues such as melisma, age spots, freckles and scars.

Platelet Rich Plasma Rejuvenation:
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) hand rejuvenation is a leading-edge procedure that harnesses the healing power of platelets and growth factors from your blood to stimulate a stem cell response. These stem cells help you to grow new collagen and blood vessels, repair and regenerate damaged skin, and help slow and reverse the signs of aging.

Dermal Fillers:
Dermal fillers can help the hands look and feel younger by filling areas that have lost volume due to the reduction in skin collagen and elastin. Fillers provide an immediate dose of collagen and ground substance, instantly filling hollows, furrows, wrinkles and lines.

What is hand rejuvenation?

A youthful appearance is often judged upon the condition of not only the face and neck, but also of the hands. Over time, hands can begin to become pigmented, lose fat, and become wrinkled. Hand rejuvenation can help to reverse these problems. This can be done with a combination of lasers including the fractional carbon dioxide laser, plasma skin regeneration and injectables.

Which hand rejuvenation treatment is for me?

During your conference with your doctor, explain your goals and expectations of the treatment. Your doctor will assess the nature of your hands, your expectations, and explain the probable outcome of the procedures best suited for you.
You may be shown several before and after treatment results of patients with similar hands, and your doctor will explain the procedure you can expect to receive and the results that you can anticipate.

You are an ideal candidate for hand treatments if…

Your hands show signs of ageing, and the backs of your hands have developed wrinkles and fine lines.
Your hands have lost volume and roundness, appearing bony and thin.
You have prominent veins on the back of your hands.

Am I suitable for Dermal Fillers and other hand treatments?

These treatments are not for everyone and may not always bring the desired effects. In particular here’s a list of reasons that would make you unsuitable for dermal filler treatments:

  • You have an infection or inflammation in the treatment area.
  • You have a known hypersensitivity to any components of chosen dermal filler.
  • You are prone to inflammatory skin conditions or have a tendency to develop hypertrophic scars.

Furthermore, people with systemic disorders (such as diabetes) with poor wound healing should not have dermal filler injections because they may lead to deterioration of tissue in the surrounding area.

A consultation with our GP’s is required prior to any treatment to ensure you receive the most suitable treatment and are not subjected to treatments that may cause harm.
